April 13, 2004 Diane Caron Blainville Moulding, Inc. Dear Diane:I was very fortunate to have “found you” through the Internet when I most needed someone of your skills. Having a soapstone sculpture that was dropped and badly damaged, I was in a panic and thought that I would not be able to get this piece repaired; especially since I live in Rhode Island and there are no resources here locally for the repair of this type of stone. Also, this piece is very special to me, not only because it is a valuable piece of Inuit art, but also because the piece is very beautiful and it “speaks to you” when you look at it...as any real piece of art should do. So by good fortune and having found you, you quickly responded to me and assured me that the piece could be repaired...and so began our relationship, one, even though only through emails and telephone calls, I have come to value. I have found you to be a very dedicated, skilled craftsman (woman) who takes extreme pride in her work and takes the piece and makes it her own while she intently works on making the repair as flawless as is possible. I was so afraid of shipping this piece to a stranger and not knowing what would happen from there or what kind of repair I would get...would the repair be “just a quick fix”? But you took your time, much of your personal time also, to work on my piece (as you explained to me, you only work on one piece at a time) and the results were phenomenal - a stone piece I sent to you in pieces has been returned to me whole again and the repair work is flawless...unless you look very closely, you cannot see where the repair seams are – and that is because of your talents. I also thought that I would “pay an arm and a leg” for your services, but was pleasantly surprised at your very reasonable rates...and to be quite honest, for the type of work you do and the time you put in on each piece, I for one would not complain when and if you need to adjust your prices...because I know the type of excellent service I would receive for what I pay. Diane, I cannot thank you enough for repairing my Sedna and hope that I’ll never have to send her to you again, but if I do...I know that she will be in loving, capable hands! Yours truly, T.
